1. You are, under no circumstances, to give out your password or reveal personal information unless you really wish to do so. If someone is asking for this information please inform a staff member immediately.
2. You do not need to be an experienced role-player to participate in this game. Experience is always a plus, but it is not necessary. If this is your first text-based RPG then tips and practice is available before you begin. Simply PM a staff to make such a request to get you started.
3. As far as posts are concerned, each RP post should be at least one paragraph in length. One paragraph is roughly 5-7 sentences. Your post should also include description, what your character is thinking/feeling/etc. It gives us something to respond to.
4. Please ensure all of your RP posts are in third person.
5. This is a literate roleplay so it would be much appreciated if you could proof-read and spell-check all to posts. If you need to, there is a spell-check function available when posting.
6. God-moding and Autoing will not be tolerated.
Please note that while you control your own character you also control your family members unless they too are members of this site. There is, however, a few exceptions to the family member rule. You will always control non-member relatives unless they are a Controller, in which case the admin also controls them in most cases. For clarification, "most cases" for admin-controlled family members that are under the control of a Yeerk will generally refer to when your character is planning for a mission or has come back from one. Parents are typically curious when their child is suddenly hardly home, comes back late, or just startedbehaving differently. If you would like more information on this rule, please PM a staff member.
7. Please keep swearing to a minimum; nothing too vulgar or excessive.
8. If you wish to speak out of character please make sure you do so parenthetically and mark it as OOC.
Example: [OOC: _______]
9. Try to be as active as possible. It ruins the experience for others if they’re waiting weeks for you to reply. If you are going to be away for a period of time please notify a staff member. If you fail to inform us of such absence and you're gone for over 3 months, consequences ranging from a reminder email to deletion of your account may occur - depending on the length in which you have been gone and the lack of notification of it happening/when you are expected to return.
10. You cannot state the finding of any animal or acquiring the DNA of any animal. This power rests with the admin. You need to state the search for an animal and the attempt to acquire the DNA by touch and concentration. The success depends on the response you receive from the admin. This rule is to ensure that members don't go acquiring all sorts of animals all over the place. You also cannot morph any animal you don't have the acquired DNA for.
11. It's fine to use smileys during a non-IC or OOC section/paragraph - but please try not to use them excessively. Using them in an actual IC (in-character) post is NOT acceptable in any situation. Doing so breaks the sentence structure, pulls away from the feel of the post itself, and above all is considered to be quite annoying.
12. Every member on site, with the exception of staff members, are limited to a single character. There may be notable exceptions in which a member may later be approved for an additional character, but only after first proving to be an active and consistently long poster over a period of time. Any member who is caught with an extra character the staff were not informed of or approved of will have that character removed without notice.
13. Remember that your character cannot be in two or more places at once. If you role-play somewhere else, then you have left the previous post/location. It is polite to let the others know when this occurs, by posting your character actually leaving the area, though some situations it may not be required such as by mentioned departure beforehand or agreement to go someplace else.
14. It is very important to play your morphs correctly in accordance to the DNA Database. Having said that, keep in mind that it will still be your interpretation and no morph is going to be exactly the same for every character. As long as you stick to the guidelines for instincts and behaviours, it is still yours to play with and adapt where you think your character would/could. If you require any assistance, please let us know.
15. And finally, have fun!
If you have any questions please feel free to PM (personal message) a member of staff.
